
LYK Mobile becomes authorised Apple Repair Program partner
LYK Mobile has announced a strategic partnership with Apple, making it one of Singapore's authorised partners for the Apple Independent Repair Program.
The partnership offers LYK Mobile access to genuine Apple parts, tools, repair manuals, and diagnostics to provide Apple-approved reliable repairs for iPhones and Mac computers.
In order to become a partner of the Independent Repair Provider Program, providers have to go through an application and qualification process.
Although it is free to both apply for the program and join once approved, repair providers must adhere to Apple's specific standards.
Additionally, technicians undertaking the repairs are also expected to be certified by Apple.
The program will give LYK Mobile and other providers free training from Apple, and combining these skills with access to genuine Apple parts will offer iPhone and Mac customers the means to have issues resolved with quicker repair turnaround times and no loss of existing phone data.
Customers without access to an Apple store nearby or those with preferences to patronise a local store can now access genuinely-sourced Apple parts and repair services of a direct Apple trained and certified provider.
As one of Apple's selected providers, LYK Mobile will also be able to furnish original iPhone and Mac repair services on top of existing third-party repair services.
Furthermore, LYK Mobile technicians are able to carry out a complimentary diagnosis of Apple iPhones and Mac computers and perform out-of-warranty Apple repair services.
This comes after Apple announced in November 2021 that it would begin selling spare parts and tools to the general public for the first time to allow users to repair specific models of iPhones and Mac computers themselves.
The decision came in response to mounting pressure from consumers requesting Apple offer a more direct means of accessing repair manuals and genuine parts.
The self-service repair programme launch was well-received after the lengthy anticipation, with both consumers and authorised repair program providers signalling appreciation for Apple listening closely and systematically to customer insights.
In March 2021, Apple also announced it would be broadening its Independent Repair Provider (IRP) Program beyond the US.
The program launched initially in the US in 2019, expanding to Canada and Europe in 2020.
The program is now available worldwide in over 200 countries, meaning nearly every country where Apple products are sold has access to it.
LYK Mobile's partner status comes after Brand Finance recently announced Apple had retained its position as the most valuable electronics brand in the world, with a 35% increase in brand value to US$355 billion.
As well as being the strongest electronics and appliances brand, Apple is also the strongest brand in the ranking, with a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 88.9 out of 100. The brand has successfully combined innovation and marketing by complementing its premium hardware devices with a premium range of subscription-based digital services.
