Applied EV & Oxa join forces for autonomous fleets

Yesterday

Applied EV and Oxa have announced a strategic partnership to facilitate the large-scale commercial deployment of autonomous vehicles.

The collaboration between these two companies brings together Applied EV's competencies in secure, software-defined vehicle platforms with Oxa's expertise in self-driving software. This offers a ready-to-use solution enabling commercial industries to integrate autonomous technology into their operations. The alliance addresses significant industry challenges such as the global driver shortage anticipated to double by 2028, logistics inefficiencies, and the demand for sustainability in operations.

Earlier in the year, Applied EV exhibited its sixth generation Blanc Robot technology in collaboration with Suzuki. This represented a noteworthy moment for the autonomous vehicle sector, demonstrating the capacity to produce software-defined autonomous logistics vehicles to automotive industry standards.

As part of this new partnership, Applied EV's vehicle platforms will be leased, equipped with sensors and computing technology employing the Oxa Reference Autonomy Design, and operating Oxa's self-driving software, Oxa Driver. An initial roll-out of 100 Blanc Robots featuring Oxa's technology is planned, followed by a wider commercial deployment of large-scale fleets.

This initiative aims to broaden global access to autonomous mobility by leveraging a presence across regions including Asia-Pacific, the United Kingdom, European Union, and the United States. Applied EV will provide solutions to Oxa and its clientele while incorporating and distributing Oxa's products within its essential markets such as logistics, agriculture, and mining.

Julian Broadbent, Chief Executive Officer of Applied EV, stated, "This partnership marks a significant milestone in the commercial deployment of autonomous vehicles. By combining our OEM-grade vehicle platform with Oxa's autonomy software, we are delivering a groundbreaking, scalable solution that enables businesses to seamlessly integrate autonomy into their operations - unlocking efficiencies and accelerating industry transformation. The unique vehicle-as-a-service model will pave the way for thousands of Blanc Robots and other autonomous vehicle platforms to be deployed globally over the coming years."

Gavin Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of Oxa, commented, "By combining our expertise, we are accelerating Industrial Mobility Automation (IMA) - automating the billions of repetitive mobility tasks that businesses perform daily. This partnership unlocks new opportunities for autonomy at scale, enabling businesses to realise the full benefits of software-defined, safety-rated autonomous vehicles - solving critical challenges such as driver shortages and productivity gaps. Together, we are shaping the future of mobility by making it safer, more reliable and more efficient."

The growing demand for autonomous vehicle solutions signals a shift towards scalable, turnkey autonomy for industrial and commercial sectors as this partnership progresses.
