Global network connectivity company CommScope has announced the release of its GigaREACHXL solution. This revolutionary addition to the SYSTIMAX portfolio boasts the capacity to double the reach of traditional twisted-pair Ethernet devices on corporate networks.
Driven by the expanding remit of the enterprise network, which powers and connects operational devices remotely—such as security cameras, access control panels, and wireless access points—the need for greater connection reach beyond the current 100-metre limit set by commercial building standards like ANSI/TIA-568 and ISO 11801 has become apparent. The introduction of GigaREACH XL from CommScope specifically addresses this challenge.

GigaREACH XL allows customers to easily connect and power devices beyond the 100-meter limit with a single cable, causing little to no disruption to existing services. It requires no additional telecom rooms, power over ethernet (PoE) extenders or optical equipment, a feature that minimises potential points of failure, reduces installation costs, and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, it supports 100Mbps Ethernet and 90W PoE up to 200 meters, 1Gbps Ethernet and 90W PoE up to 150 meters (50% longer than Cat 6), and 10Mbps Ethernet and 90W PoE up to 250 meters. GigaREACH XL's capability to achieve these extended distances owes much to key design features adapted from the original SYSTIMAX Category 6A cabling.
