Element joins 5G Automotive Association to accelerate connected mobility
Wed, 17th Apr 2024

Element Materials Technology (Element), a global provider of testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) services, officially announced its membership to the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA), a worldwide cross-industry collaborative organisation. By aligning itself with the 5GAA, Element plans to enhance customer work through deeper insights and more collaborative partnerships, effectively accelerating their time-to-market.

The news marks a significant milestone in enhancing the paradigm of connected mobility solutions. Element, known for its extensive experience in TIC services, is exceptionally equipped to facilitate the safe and trustworthy deployment of C-V2X (Cellular vehicle-to-everything) technology.

5GAA first came to fruition in 2016, with its founding members including the likes of Audi, BMW Group, Daimler, Ericsson, Huawei, Intel, Nokia, and Qualcomm. The aim is to revolutionise the mobility ecosystem and transform the way drivers interact with the world. Growing to include over 110 member organisations, it has successfully transitioned C-V2X from a new standard into a market reality. This transformation has led to the adoption of intelligent road transportation and traffic management across the globe.

As a member of the 5GAA, Element will provide full product life-cycle support, from advisory to testing, certification, and managing global market access. This will enable manufacturers to introduce their products safely to the market. Moreover, it wholeheartedly supports vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology. This technology promotes a safer, smarter, and greener mobility experience by fostering extensive data sharing between vehicles and their environment.

Element's leading experts will participate in five of the 5GAA's seven working groups: Use Case and Technical Requirements, System Architecture and Solution Development, Evaluation of Test Beds and Pilots, Standards and Spectrum, and Business Models and Go-To-Market Strategies.

Lisa Bate, SVP of Connected Technology and Mobility at Element, expressed her delight at the partnership: “Connecting with the 5GAA is one of the many ways that we are making tomorrow safer than today. We are proud to join the 5GAA and look forward to leveraging our technical expertise to further the organisation's mission."

Johannes Springer, 5GAA Director General, welcomed Element to the association: "Their extensive experience in testing, inspection, and certification across the automotive and telecommunications industries is a very valuable asset to our mission. Collaboration based on reliable certification is crucial for ensuring the safe and trustworthy deployment of C-V2X technology, and we are proud to facilitate that cooperation among the entire ecosystem to keep advancing connected mobility solutions."

Element's membership in the 5GAA represents a pivotal step in advancing the global landscape of connected mobility solutions. With its expertise in testing, inspection, and certification services, Element is poised to play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable deployment of C-V2X technology. Through collaborative partnerships and deep insights, Element is set to accelerate innovation and drive the evolution of intelligent transportation systems, ultimately shaping a safer, smarter, and more sustainable future for mobility worldwide.
