Infinix taps Pininfarina for NOTE 60 Ultra flagship design

Wed, 31st Dec 2025

Infinix has formed a strategic design partnership with Italian design studio Pininfarina and plans a new flagship smartphone series starting with the upcoming Infinix NOTE 60 Ultra.

The long-term collaboration links a fast-growing smartphone brand with one of the best-known names in automotive and industrial design. It focuses on the external form and aesthetic direction of Infinix's next generation of premium devices.

The first product from the partnership will be the "Infinix NOTE 60 Ultra designed by Pininfarina". Infinix described it as the beginning of a new flagship design series. The company plans to release further information on design details, specifications and market rollout in the coming days.

Design heritage

Pininfarina has worked on some of the most recognisable cars of the past century. Its portfolio includes models such as the Ferrari Testarossa and the Alfa Romeo Spider. The studio has also expanded into architecture, yacht design and wider lifestyle products.

The new agreement brings that design heritage into the smartphone sector. Infinix said the collaboration represents a milestone for both organisations and for the wider mobile industry.

The companies did not disclose the commercial terms of the partnership. They positioned the arrangement as a strategic alliance centred on industrial design and user experience rather than engineering or manufacturing.

Growth push

Infinix was founded in 2013 and has built its business in emerging markets including Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia. The brand has focused on mid-range Android devices and has expanded into categories such as laptops, tablets, smart TVs, smartwatches and wireless earbuds.

The company is in a phase of rapid shipment growth. IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker reported that Infinix recorded the largest quarter-on-quarter shipment increase in Southeast Asia in the second quarter of 2025.

In that context the Pininfarina tie-up marks a shift in emphasis towards higher-end design and premium positioning. The NOTE 60 Ultra line will sit at the top of Infinix's portfolio.

Infinix said the partnership with Pininfarina will influence the broader NOTE 60 Series and future flagship products. It highlighted design as a core area of investment for the brand over the coming product cycles.

"As we collaborate with leading partners across different fields, we are steadily advancing Infinix's journey toward premiumization," said Tony Zhao, CEO of Infinix. "Our work with Pininfarina is an important step in strengthening the design foundation of our future products, beginning with the NOTE 60 Series. This partnership reinforces our commitment to deepening investment in high-end design and establishing a new aesthetic benchmark for future flagship products."

Italian influence

Pininfarina, founded in 1930, has worked on more than 1,450 automotive and mobility projects, along with more than 750 product and architecture assignments. It employs around 500 people and operates design offices in Italy, Germany, China and the United States.

The studio has received more than 90 international design awards over the past decade. It is widely associated with Italian design values of elegance, purity of line and restrained detail.

Fabio Calorio, Senior Vice President of Brand at Pininfarina, said the partnership gives the firm a fresh platform in consumer technology.

"Partnering with Infinix on this project has been a great opportunity both to express Pininfarina's legacy of Italian design excellence into the realm of technology and to apply our principles, based on the combination of beauty and performance, in order to make a lasting impact on the user experience. For nearly a century, our brand has shaped new ways of living, been synonymous with purity, timeless design, and emotion in form - values that perfectly align with Infinix's vision of innovation," said Calorio.

Industry context

Several smartphone makers have turned to automotive and luxury design houses in recent years. These collaborations have centred on external finish, materials, colour choices and product identity.

The Infinix and Pininfarina alliance follows this pattern. The companies framed the NOTE 60 Ultra as a showcase for craftsmanship and visual identity rather than a statement about specific hardware components.

Infinix said the partnership will support design-led experiences across a global customer base. It expects the NOTE 60 Ultra and subsequent models in the flagship design series to reach multiple regions where the brand already has a presence.

As the two firms prepare the launch, they plan to disclose the device's design language, feature set and market availability in staged announcements ahead of commercial release.
