Thu, 7th Mar 2024

Jason W. Adkins has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer of Bluebird Network, a communications infrastructure provider and operator of more than 11,000 miles of fiber and two data centers. With 29 years under his belt in the telecom industry, Adkins has seen significant success in an array of positions throughout his career. He will be assuming his official role from March 18, 2024.

Adkins' extensive experience in the fibre industry includes his recent position as the CEO of Unite Private Networks before its sale to Cox Communications. He has also served as part of management teams with Windstream, Kentucky Data Link, Inc, (KDL), Level 3 Communications, TelCove, Conterra Networks and KMC Telecom. His academic achievements include a B.B.A. in Marketing with a minor in Economics from James Madison and an MBA from Radford University.

Upon his appointment, Adkins expressed his excitement about leading the Bluebird Network team. He said, “With a 100% fibre optic backbone, diverse mission-critical data centres and a strong reputation for customer service, I look forward to continuing to bring world-class connectivity to businesses and carriers throughout the Midwest."

Incoming CEO Adkins will be replacing current CEO Michael Morey, who will be ending his 12-year tenure at Bluebird in March 2024. Morey, a telecom veteran with over 40 years of experience, has helped Bluebird Network achieve considerable growth over his term. Substantial milestones include the growth of the company’s network and a significant increase in revenues.

Reflecting on his time in office, Morey says, “To say I have enjoyed my 12 years here at Bluebird would be an understatement. The growth of our company’s network and the doubling and tripling of our revenues over my tenure are high-water marks for any individual in leadership, but I am most proud of the employees I’ve had the honour to lead over this period.”

Morey shows great confidence in his successor, expressing, “I can rest assured Bluebird will be given every opportunity to succeed under its new leadership. Jason is just the right person to continue the growth at Bluebird Network.”

As part of this transition in leadership, Bluebird Network is positioned to continue strongly in its mission to provide high-quality connectivity services in the Midwest, guided by the experienced leadership of Jason W. Adkins.
