Meizu returns to Malaysia with new products & DreamSmart ecosystem

Thu, 20th Jun 2024

Meizu, a Chinese smartphone maker, is set to launch its new products in Malaysia, marking its resurgence in the market. The objective is to re-establish the brand's presence and its integration within the DreamSmart ecosystem. This strategy includes the release of the Meizu 21 smartphone, which debuted in Malaysia in March, alongside several other upcoming products throughout the year.

The Meizu 21 is designed to meet the demands of the modern era, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and four ultra-narrow 1.74mm bezels with an all-white panel. It operates using the Flyme AI Large Model Engine, ensuring smooth performance through Flyme 10.5. The device is equipped with a Samsung screen, providing vivid visuals, and offers advanced haptic feedback with the mEngine Ultra. Security is a priority with the Ultrasonic mTouch 2.0 under-display fingerprint sensor. The Meizu 21 also boasts 80W Super Charge and a 4800mAh battery.

In addition to hardware advancements, Meizu has integrated artificial intelligence extensively into its operating system, FlymeOS. Enhanced with advanced AI capabilities, FlymeOS offers users features such as AI Gallery for natural language image search and creative tools. New functionalities like AI Portal and AI-Assisted Input aim to streamline user interactions, demonstrating Meizu's commitment to driving innovation and creating new user experiences.

Flyme Auto, Meizu's intelligent in-car system, is the result of a collaboration with Geely Auto. This system aims to enhance user interactions during travel by integrating smartphones and vehicles via Flyme Link. Flyme Auto provides features such as effortless unlocking, navigation, and cross-platform application usage. It also introduces the "Phone Domain" concept, allowing multi-terminal connectivity without data consumption or downloads.

Meizu's products are part of a larger initiative under the DreamSmart ecosystem, which includes various smart devices such as smartphones, smart AR glasses, and smart cars. DreamSmart is designed to offer consumers a seamless and interconnected experience. The ecosystem is complemented by MYVU, a brand under DreamSmart that specialises in wearable technology. MYVU AR Smart Glasses are noted for being the lightest dual-display full-colour AR smart glasses available, significantly enhancing user productivity and convenience.

DreamSmart's "All in AI" strategic plan focuses on developing AI devices, redesigning the Flyme operating system, and creating an interconnected AI ecosystem. The plan involves collaborations with international AI teams, including OpenAI, to drive innovation in AI. One of the first steps in this direction will be the launch of an AI-driven mobile operating system in 2024.

DreamSmart's initiative to integrate consumer electronics and the automotive industry under the "Smartphone + XR + Smart Car" strategy aims to provide users with a seamless and immersive experience across various devices and scenarios. This approach is expected to establish a global ecosystem of smart mobility technologies.
