Wed, 10th Apr 2024

Benjamin Azoulay, CEO of Oledcomm, has been announced as the new Chair of the LiFi Task Force by the HomeGrid Forum, in a critical move that heralds ongoing advancements for LiFi technology (a wireless communication technology pioneered by Oledcomm that offers a secure, low-detection alternative to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or 5G technologies).

Under Azoulay's leadership, Oledcomm has gained recognition by the HomeGrid Forum for its role in creating and continually innovating within the G.vlc LiFi sector. This includes the remarkable miniaturisation of LiFi technology into an Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) chip. This chip contributed significantly to the seamless integration of the technology into mobile devices, a breakthrough that moved LiFi technology to the forefront of wireless communication.

Noteworthy in Oledcomm's catalogue of achievements is the outstanding milestone of launching the first ever LiFi G.hn product into space onboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in April 2023. Additionally, they developed highly robust solutions for industrial applications further securing their position as innovators within the LiFi sector.

HomeGrid Forum President Livia Rosu commended Azoulay's appointment, stating, "Benjamin Azoulay's appointment to LiFi Task Force Chair reflects his ongoing dedication to driving LiFi advancements and adoptions. Under his leadership, Oledcomm has emerged as a global leader in last-mile wireless optical communications, whether for space, defence or security applications." Rosu also highlights Azoulay's vision for greater collaboration and interoperability as a source of inspiration across numerous industries and believes his experience will drive the LiFi Task Force to future innovations.

Addressing his appointment, new LiFi Task Force Chair and Oledcomm CEO Benjamin Azoulay emphasised the importance of collaboration between manufacturers for the successful adoption of LiFi technologies. He said, "I remain convinced that in order to achieve widespread adoption of LiFi technologies, manufacturers must come together to develop reliable, interoperable solutions. In my new role, the goal will be to persuade additional manufacturers to join our efforts. Through increased collaboration, we can offer a comprehensive range of LiFi solutions which are all fully compatible with each other, providing a backbone for future innovation."

Oledcomm's strength as a leader in the LiFi technology field is evident through its partnership with industry heavyweights such as Airbus, Thales, Oneweb, Cambium Networks, CNES, and ESA. Their contribution to the progression of LiFi technology has been acknowledged by the European Innovation Council (EIC) through the SatelLiFe project and by the French Government with the LEEOS project. These projects correlate with the pivotal roles undertaken by Oledcomm and Azoulay within the LiFi sector and beyond.

The HomeGrid Forum will maintain updates on current LiFi Task Force activities, providing an insight into the progression of Lifi technology and predicted future advancements.
