StarHub tops global sustainability rankings for telecoms
StarHub has been named the World's Most Sustainable Wireless Telecom Provider in the Corporate Knights Global 100 rankings.
The company, based in Singapore, has been acknowledged for its consistent efforts in sustainability, having been recognised by Corporate Knights for these efforts since 2022.
Jaclyn Yeo, Head of Sustainability at StarHub, said, "StarHub has consistently been recognised by Corporate Knights for our sustainability efforts since 2022. This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the StarHub team in prioritising energy efficiency, reducing our carbon footprint, and driving innovation in green technologies. It reflects the commitment we have made to our customers, employees, and stakeholders to lead with sustainability and continue creating a positive impact on both our business and the environment."
The Corporate Knights Global 100 rankings, established in 2005, assess the world's most sustainable companies through a detailed evaluation of 25 key performance indicators, targeting companies with revenue exceeding USD $1 billion. For the 2025 rankings, 8,359 companies were assessed, with 100 finalists selected. StarHub made notable progress, rising to 73rd from 80th in 2024 among the global rankings.
In its commitment to sustainability, StarHub published its second Climate Transition Plan in September 2024. The plan outlines the company's approach to investing in climate-resilient and energy-efficient network infrastructure, renewable energy, and green services. StarHub reaffirmed its long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2050.
The company prioritises energy efficiency across its data centres and network infrastructure, contributing more than 80% to its Scope 1 and 2 emissions. StarHub aims to decrease absolute energy consumption and enhance its operational performance and cost efficiency. It also targets sourcing 30% of its energy from renewable resources by 2030. As part of this initiative, the company entered a five-year Power Purchase Agreement with Tuas Power in February 2024, allowing it to use green biomass energy until 2028.
StarHub continues to develop and promote green products and services in partnership with suppliers and business partners, contributing to sustainable solutions for customers and the broader community in the green digital economy. These measures are part of its strategy to facilitate a sustainable digital transformation.
