Zyxel donates over 1,100 devices to boost Taiwan non-profits
Zyxel Networks has reached a milestone in its programme supporting non-profit organisations in Taiwan by donating over 1,100 networking devices to 120 groups over the past four years. The initiative aims to address operational challenges in the social sector, facilitate digital transformation and improve service delivery to underserved communities.
Programmeme expansion
This year, Zyxel Networks expanded the scope of its donations by including Nebula Cloud Management Professional Pack licences for the first time. The software is designed to enhance operational efficiency and simplify network management for organisations with limited IT resources. Previously, the programme focused solely on providing physical networking devices such as switches and routers.
In addition to equipment, employee volunteers from Zyxel Networks provided technical assistance, including network setup and onsite installation. These efforts focused on supporting organisations such as the Boyo Social Welfare Foundation and the Ruth Society for Disability Services. Both groups provide essential services in remote or otherwise resource-limited settings.
Educational support
The Boyo Social Welfare Foundation's Jianshi branch in Hsinchu benefited from improved digital connectivity. Volunteers optimised the networking infrastructure to support digital learning for children in a mountainous area.
"We are incredibly grateful for the support from Zyxel Networks and the Zyxel Foundation. This year's donation went beyond network equipment to also include the Nebula Cloud Management solution. This significantly simplified the network management and maintenance processes for all our locations. With volunteers came here to help with installation and testing, we felt their genuine commitment and passion to supporting education in remote areas. These upgrades have brought a notable increase in efficiency to our Jianshi branch, allowing our staff to focus more on their core mission of providing educational and support services," said Shih-Chun Chen, Head of IT, Boyo Social Welfare Foundation.
Upgraded services
The Ruth Society for Disability Services in Zhongli, Taoyuan, also received a complete overhaul of its networking infrastructure. Improvements included a full campus network rewiring and the installation of new equipment, resulting in a more reliable and faster internet connection for staff and students.
"We have long struggled with unstable internet speeds and chaotic, aging network cabling. Thanks to the support from the Zyxel Foundation and Zyxel Networks, we have completed a full campus network rewiring and equipment upgrade. This has dramatically improved our overall connection speed and stability, enhancing the quality of our daily teaching and administrative work. It also allows for smoother use of smart assistive devices and digital services, creating equal opportunities for disadvantaged groups to connect with the digital world," said Chiu Chia-Huai, Executive Director of Ruth Society for Disability Services.
Widening reach
The programme has expanded to partner with environmental organisations, including the Environmental Quality Protection Foundation and Trust in Nature Foundation. By broadening its scope, Zyxel Networks aims to contribute to both social welfare and ecological projects, as well as education around sustainability.
The group continues to support other long-term partners, such as the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families and the Hondao Senior Citizen's Welfare Foundation. Mobilising employee volunteers is central to the company's approach, helping staff better understand and respond to the practical networking challenges faced by non-profits.
Ongoing commitment
Denise Lin, Chief Sustainability Officer of Zyxel Group, highlighted the company's strategy in supporting non-profits with technology resources and employee expertise. "Through our sustained efforts, we aim to assist non-profit organizations in their digital transformation, thereby enhancing the efficiency and quality of their services. We believe that technology can be a powerful tool to connect communities and care for the underserved. We're committed to keep consolidating resources across the Zyxel Group and delivering more public welfare projects that make an impact on society," said Lin.
