CelcomDigi debuts 5G prepaid passes with unlimited data

Thu, 29th Jan 2026

CelcomDigi has launched new prepaid 5G mobile internet passes in Malaysia, adding Hyper, Power and Power+ options with unlimited calls, unlimited hotspot usage and a mix of quota-based and unlimited data plans.

The operator said the new prepaid range targets heavy mobile internet use across streaming, gaming and day-to-day browsing. The plans sit within CelcomDigi's prepaid portfolio and use its 5G network.

Hyper passes

CelcomDigi positioned its Prepaid 5G Hyper passes as an entry point for customers who want a simpler prepaid plan. The company set pricing from RM30. It described the offer as suited to everyday usage such as browsing, social media and streaming.

The operator did not publish specific data quotas or fair usage policies for the Hyper tier in the announcement. It said customers receive unlimited calls to all networks and unlimited hotspot usage as part of the Hyper and Power passes.

Power passes

For heavier users, CelcomDigi introduced its Prepaid 5G Power passes. Pricing starts from RM35. The company said the Power tier includes unlimited 5G internet.

CelcomDigi also introduced a higher-priced option called Prepaid 5G Power+. The company priced Power+ from RM55. It said Power+ includes unlimited data at uncapped 5G speeds.

CelcomDigi added that Power+ includes access to Prime Video and Viu. It described this as built-in access to premium entertainment bundled with the prepaid plan.

Always-on focus

Across the range, CelcomDigi framed the new prepaid passes around "Gen Now", a label it used for customers with heavy and frequent mobile data usage. The operator said the plans cover activities such as streaming, gaming, scrolling and working on the go.

The company also emphasised that the passes include unlimited hotspot usage. That feature typically appeals to customers who tether laptops or tablets to a phone connection while travelling or working outside the home.

CelcomDigi said the new prepaid offers include uncapped 5G speeds for the Power+ tier. It did not provide a minimum speed commitment or typical download and upload speeds in the announcement. The company also did not provide information on coverage availability by region for the new prepaid plans.

Sales channels

CelcomDigi said new customers can sign up for the Hyper and Power passes at CelcomDigi stores and through authorised dealers and partners. Existing prepaid customers can subscribe through the CelcomDigi app.

The operator did not disclose a subscriber target for the new prepaid range. It also did not say how it expects the new plans to affect average revenue per user or prepaid churn.

Market position

CelcomDigi said it has more than 20.5 million users on its network. The operator described itself as Malaysia's largest mobile network operator.

CelcomDigi also highlighted its network footprint and distribution reach in its company description. It said it has more than 3,800 employees.

The operator's latest prepaid announcement follows wider industry moves in Southeast Asia where mobile operators have increased the use of entertainment bundles and longer-validity data packs in prepaid. Operators have also sought to differentiate prepaid tiers by linking pricing to streaming use, tethering allowances and 5G access.

CelcomDigi did not provide details on the validity periods of the new passes, beyond referencing longer validity and flexibility in its messaging. It also did not describe whether the new passes replace any existing prepaid offers or sit alongside them.

CelcomDigi said customers can take up the new Hyper and Power options through its retail network and the CelcomDigi app.
