CelcomDigi launches new FTTR business solution with Huawei Malaysia
CelcomDigi has launched its Fibre-to-the-Room Business (FTTR-B) solution in partnership with Huawei Malaysia to provide enhanced connectivity for businesses in Malaysia.
The FTTR-B solution aims to deliver stable and consistent network performance, stronger signal strength, and seamless indoor roaming to ensure reliable, high-speed connectivity throughout business premises. CelcomDigi describes this offering as the first of its kind in both Malaysia and Southeast Asia, powered by Huawei's equipment and technology.
Connectivity for business needs
This launch follows the company's introduction of a similar consumer-targeted Fibre-to-the-Room product for households in October of the previous year. As an increasing number of business functions shift to online platforms – ranging from payment systems and tax submissions to invoicing and customer service – reliable connectivity is viewed as vital for organisational agility and ongoing competitiveness.
CelcomDigi's FTTR-B proposition targets this demand by providing always-on connectivity and enabling Malaysian businesses to further embrace digitalisation and boost operational efficiency within today's connected environment.
"Connectivity is an enabler for every aspect of business today. With so many critical functions now dependent on digital platforms, businesses need fast, stable, and consistent coverage in every corner of their operations, whether it is serving customers, managing back-end systems, or keeping teams connected. Our FTTR-B solution goes beyond delivering speed, they redefine how connectivity supports a business, ensuring every part of it runs at peak performance and is equipped with the capabilities to thrive in the digital future."
This comment from Ts. Afizulazha Abdullah, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at CelcomDigi, highlights the company's emphasis on the essential role of dependable connectivity in supporting business operations and growth.
Features of FTTR-B
CelcomDigi Business Fibre now offers a range of fibre internet plans to accommodate varying business sizes and requirements. As part of a current promotional offer, the FTTR-B 1Gbps bundle is priced at MYR RM299 per month, with a one-time fee of MYR RM180. The company states that the usual installation, valued at MYR RM2,900, is being provided at no cost during this promotion.
The FTTR-B solution utilises WiFi 7 technology, which supports ultra-fast connectivity, low latency and capacity for multiple simultaneous device connections. The system uses fibre optic cabling within buildings to provide gigabit speeds in every room, minimising signal loss and enhancing indoor roaming and network congestion management. The platform is advertised as scalable for different business sizes and includes features such as separate networks for staff and guests, advanced security, WiFi 7 capability, and an upgrade path for speeds beyond 2Gbps.
CelcomDigi also provides a managed, customisable version of the FTTR-B product, allowing businesses to work with CelcomDigi's enterprise team on installation planning, tailored configurations, on-site support and continuous network performance monitoring, supporting organisations with complex networking requirements.
Technology partnership with Huawei Malaysia
The collaboration with Huawei Malaysia combines CelcomDigi's network capabilities with Huawei's hardware and technology.
"We are committed to empowering Malaysian businesses with innovative flexible solutions that overcome the limitations of traditional networking while driving efficiency and growth. With the launch of the FTTR-B solution, businesses can benefit from seamless, high-speed connectivity that adapts to their evolving needs, ensuring stable and reliable performance for enhanced productivity in the digital era."
This statement from Zac Chow, Huawei Malaysia's Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Carrier Business, points to the goal of supporting businesses' productivity through digital connectivity solutions.
Pilot deployment and future plans
The product was first deployed at La Casa Leal Restaurant, cited as the initial venue in the country to pilot the FTTR-B solution. Following this trial, CelcomDigi has indicated that it intends to scale up the FTTR-B offering across Malaysia to deliver high-speed and reliable connectivity to more businesses, with the aim of supporting smooth operations and improving customer experiences in diverse business sectors.
