Myriota expands Southeast Asia satellite IoT with AUD $25m boost

Yesterday

Myriota has announced it will showcase its latest Internet of Things (IoT) solutions aimed at addressing connectivity challenges in Southeast Asia.

The Australian company, which specialises in direct-to-satellite connectivity for remote field data, is seeking to expand its partnerships across the region. Myriota's space-based network provides scalable IoT data services and energy-efficient hardware targeting sectors such as agriculture, logistics, water management, and environmental conservation.

Through the introduction of its IoT connectivity platforms, Myriota UltraLite and Myriota HyperPulse, the company is providing options for customers and partners looking for affordable and adaptable solutions in regions lacking reliable cellular coverage. These platforms are designed to enable monitoring and data capture in remote environments where connectivity has previously been impractical or cost-prohibitive.

The Myriota UltraLite service uses a proprietary ultra-low power network supporting remote operations, and Myriota HyperPulse is described as the first 5G non-terrestrial network (NTN) solution using geostationary satellites with beam-hopping capabilities. These systems offer satellite IoT coverage suitable for conditions where traditional connectivity is limited.

Myriota HyperPulse recently received industry recognition, having been awarded the Space & Connectivity Breakthrough Award at IOT Solutions World Congress 2025. The company states both UltraLite and HyperPulse systems are optimised for remote sensing and seek to offer improved business practices and sustainable resource use through increased access to data.

According to Myriota, its growing customer base includes organisations working on solutions for challenges in monitoring, sensing, and tracking across agriculture, water management, transport, and utilities. The company reported growth to more than 65 employees and over 200 customers worldwide in 2025.

As part of its regional expansion, Myriota has appointed a Business Development Manager based in Malaysia and a Regulatory Affairs Manager in the Philippines. According to the company, these appointments demonstrate a commitment to tackling connectivity issues across nations characterised by dispersed geographies and challenging terrain.

Dan Franklin, Myriota Regional Sales Director APAC, commented, "We're really excited to be able to bring our satellite IoT connectivity to the South-East Asian market at this year's AsiaTech x Singapore."

Detailing the demand for such technology, Franklin added, "We are seeing a real need for better, and more capable, IoT connectivity across the region, where currently many critical resources and infrastructure are not being monitored and therefore businesses are not capturing vital data to protect and optimise resources, like oil and gas in Malaysia, groundwater in Indonesia, plantations in Thailand and fishing vessels in the Philippines."

Late in 2024, Myriota received an AUD $25 million funding boost from the Australian National Reconstruction Fund Corporation. The funds are allocated to enhance the capacity and scale of its IoT connectivity platform and infrastructure, as well as to help expand its Australian-based advanced hardware manufacturing to supply growing global demand.

Myriota describes this support from the Australian Government as an indicator of its continued trajectory as a direct-to-orbit connectivity provider in the global market.
