Singtel wins awards for connectivity and IoT offerings
Singtel has won two awards at the World Communications Awards 2022, emerging as the top contender against a strong field of global carriers.
The company won in the Beyond Connectivity category for its ability to enable organisations to move up the 5G value chain with end-to-end offerings in partnership with Ericsson.
Singtel received this award for its advanced 5G offerings, powered by Ericsson, which focus on three key layers: foundational telco connectivity and infrastructure, service enablement and applications and services.
Singtel is also collaborating with the Industry 4.0 ecosystem to develop and deploy advanced 5G offerings in Singapore, with the aim of introducing new business models.
This includes its partnership with Ericsson to work with nine global industry partners throughout various industries on 5G use cases, as well as partnerships with device and chipset manufacturers, solution and app providers, domain partners and system integrations.
In addition, Singtel was recognised as the winner in the IoT Innovation category for its Multi-Domestic Connectivity Solution for automotive manufacturers in partnership with Ericsson and Bridge Alliance.
Working with these two companies, Singtel collaborated on a platform that equips automotive manufacturers with the means to seamlessly deploy connected cars in the Asia Pacific region by minimising costs and operational complexities throughout different markets.
The offering allows automakers to create a contract solely with Singtel as lead mobile network operator through Bridge Alliance's inter-operator agreements throughout Asia Pacific.
The operators join Ericsson's cloud-based IoT Accelerator platform that seamlessly and efficiently distributes services across the region. Singtel and Bridge coordinate and manage the delivery throughout other Bridge member operators, taking away operational difficulties for customers.
"Singtel is honoured to be recognised by the industry for our innovative 5G and MEC enterprise solutions and services that are transforming businesses, driving innovation and growth in the digital economy," says Bill Chang, CEO, Group Enterprise, Singtel.
"Our understanding of the challenges facing enterprises in today's complex operating environment enables us to provide the technology platforms and solutions to address their needs.
"We are committed to helping enterprises take full advantage of the potential 5G, and their edge clouds have to offer and to realise their digital transformation ambitions for greater economic success."
First organised in 1999 by respected industry publication, Total Telecom, the World Communications Awards is one of the telecommunications industry's leading awards programmes, celebrating innovation and excellence in global telecoms.
Global carriers were assessed by an independent expert panel comprising over 90 judges from the industry.
