Tata enhances Asia data links with TGN-IA2 submarine cable
Tata Communications has announced the integration of the new TGN-IA2 submarine cable system, constructed by the Asia Direct Cable consortium, into its existing network infrastructure.
The TGN-IA2 submarine cable system has been designed to provide seamless connectivity, scalable bandwidth options, and high-capacity data transfers across various routes, catering to sectors including financial services, e-commerce, and logistics that rely on fast and secure data transit between Asia and global business hubs.
Customers such as enterprises, hyperscalers, and service providers are expected to benefit from diverse and resilient connectivity solutions within their Intra-Asia networks via the new cable system, according to the company.
Tata Communications stated that TGN-IA2 will be integrated with its existing assets, facilitating connection between Asia and key regions including the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and India.
By having ownership and control over end-to-end capacity upgrades on TGN-IA2, Tata Communications said it will gain greater flexibility and scalability compared to traditional consortium-built cable systems, with the aim of delivering faster provisioning and improved readiness for businesses.
The company outlined that the direct control over capacity also enables the network to adapt to changing customer requirements and supports data-intensive applications such as artificial intelligence, data centre-to-data centre connectivity, and high-definition streaming.
Users across industries depending on efficient data transit are anticipated to experience improved latency, enhanced internet speeds and streaming quality, and increased reliability and redundancy. Additionally, the new system is expected to boost business continuity and provide greater network diversity through seamless interconnection with the existing TGN-IA (Tata Global Network Intra-Asia) subsea cable system.
The integration of TGN-IA2 is also positioned as a foundation for the introduction of future digital services and applications, with Tata Communications noting the system's role in supporting next-generation technology requirements within the region and beyond.
Genius Wong, Executive Vice President – Core and Next-Gen Connectivity Services and Chief Technology Officer, Tata Communications, commented: "At Tata Communications, we remain steadfast in our commitment to investing in cutting-edge subsea cable systems to meet our customers' growing demands for scalable, diverse, and high-performance connectivity solutions. Whether you're a cloud provider expanding into Asia, an MNC seeking low-latency connectivity across continents, or a digital business scaling globally, TGN-IA2 is a foundation for your future. This latest enhancement to our network fabric will further strengthen Tata Communications' position as a global leader in smart, secure, and scalable connectivity and cross-border innovation."
The company underscored that the TGN-IA2 integration comes at a time when businesses and service providers are increasingly in need of robust and future-proof digital infrastructure supporting modern applications, including artificial intelligence and ultra-high-definition content delivery.
