Zoom has announced new capabilities for its AI Companion, a generative AI assistant, to improve connectivity, productivity, and cooperation across its platform. Significant enhancements have been introduced across different facets of the platform, including Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Whiteboard, and Zoom Meetings. These updates are designed to assist administrators in understanding and tracking AI use and adoption, and help contact centre agents enhance their interactions with customers.

Since launching in September 2023, the AI Companion generated over 5 million meeting summaries. "We are focused on building AI capabilities that support collaboration, connection, and productivity, and empower users to do their best work," said Mahesh Ram, Head of AI at Zoom.

"By continuing to launch new features for AI Companion, including an analytics dashboard and AI Companion for Zoom Contact Center, our aim is to help more people feel supported and enabled to build connections together."

Zoom is introducing an analytics dashboard to facilitate the employment and adoption of AI Companion across an organisation. The analytics dashboard is now available in the Zoom admin portal, providing administrators insights on the usage and adoption of AI Companion within their organisation. This not only allows for more support to be provided where needed, but also reminds users of the various ways in which the AI Companion can streamline their workday.

The company is integrating AI even further into its platform, including its Contact Center. AI Companion for Contact Centre can now summarise customer interactions, facilitating better agent understanding and smoother hand-offs. It assists in generating post-call tasks for follow-ups and supports speech analytics and live sentiment analysis.

Zoom continues to innovate its offering to better aid productivity in the workplace. With the new capabilities, AI Companion preempts the need to schedule a meeting while using Team Chat by creating a self-populating calendar invite based on message content. Furthermore, the upgraded AI Companion can create mind maps within Zoom Whiteboard, helping to visualize ideas stemming from a central user prompt.

The AI Companion has become more inclusive towards meeting attendees. It now uses attendees' gender pronouns from their Zoom profile when generating meeting summaries. These advances have been designed to ensure participants feel seen and acknowledged during meetings.
