Indosat embraces AI to enhance Eid communication network

Yesterday

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison is incorporating artificial intelligence into its network infrastructure to manage the increased communication demands anticipated during Eid al-Fitr 1446 H.

The telecommunications company has introduced a network assurance initiative termed Unparalleled Network Services Guaranteed, which is positioned to meet the annual spike in data traffic that accompanies Ramadan and Eid. This enhanced capacity is intended to provide customers with stable and reliable connections for calls, messaging, and internet access. Indosat aims to predict traffic spikes, optimise network capacity, minimise downtime, and expedite issue resolution through the power of AI.

Vikram Sinha, President Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, elaborated on the significant role AI is set to play: "AI not only enhances our customer's digital experience, but it also forms the foundation of Indosat's journey toward becoming an AI Native TechCo. Through AI, we ensure that every customer, wherever they are, enjoys the best connectivity to support their activities during Ramadan and Eid."

Integral to this plan is the introduction of INFINITE (Intelligent Network for Innovative and Transformational Experience) by Indosat. This system utilises AI and cognitive learning to offer more stable, faster, and secure communications.

Further, Indosat is extending its commitment to artificial intelligence beyond the realm of telecommunications. The company is actively investing in an AI ecosystem within Indonesia, underlining a partnership with NVIDIA and Accenture to develop a comprehensive, sovereign AI infrastructure. This initiative aims to ensure that AI technologies are honed and implemented using local resources and expertise.

Indosat's AI Factory and the GPU Merdeka programme reflect its approach in providing accessible AI solutions to different sectors, ranging from startups to government bodies. An additional commitment from the company is manifested in its goal to train one million individuals in digital skills by the year 2027. "We want to build AI developed in Indonesia, by Indonesians, and for Indonesia. Together with NVIDIA and Accenture, we are ensuring that AI becomes the foundation for a more advanced future for Indonesia," said Vikram Sinha.

This investment strategy is not merely about implementing technology but is part of a broader vision to enhance national competitiveness. The sovereignty over AI technology is seen as crucial by Indosat, allowing Indonesia to steer the use of AI for its national necessities across finance, healthcare, and education sectors.

The cooperation with NVIDIA and Accenture is designed to facilitate the faster adoption of AI in Indonesia and position the country as both a user and developer of transformative technologies that spur economic and social development.

With the onset of Ramadan and Eid, AI becomes more than just an aid to boost connectivity; it is recognised as a crucial factor in propelling Indonesia's digital transformation and opening up new opportunities throughout society.
