Vectra AI extends partnership with Globe Telecom to boost security

Today

Vectra AI has announced it is extending its long-term partnership with Globe Telecom to enhance the latter's cybersecurity operations.

Vectra AI, a company specialising in AI-driven extended detection and response (XDR), and Globe Telecom, the Philippines' largest mobile network provider, have been collaborating to improve cybersecurity by reducing alert noise and enhancing security effectiveness. The partnership has achieved a 99% reduction in alert noise, significantly strengthening Globe Telecom's security posture and ensuring reliable services for more than 80 million customers.

Globe Telecom has benefitted from Vectra AI's solutions by mitigating cyber threats within its infrastructure over the past year. By employing AI-powered Attack Signal Intelligence and combining Network Detection and Response with CrowdStrike's Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions, Globe Telecom attained comprehensive visibility of its network and endpoint activities.

After adopting Vectra AI's solutions, Globe Telecom has managed to decrease its incident response time to 3.5 hours, achieving a 99% reduction in noise and escalations. Globe Telecom's Chief Information Security and Chief AI Officer, Anton Bonifacio, stated, "With Vectra in place, the light started to turn on. Its automation and filtering capabilities allowed us to focus on the most important threats, which made our team more efficient and effective in our response."

The enhanced clarity on network activity has allowed Globe Telecom's security team to maintain better control over its environment, with the ability to detect hidden threats before any potential damage occurs. Understanding east-west traffic and lateral movement has become integral to their strategy.

Aylwin Lam, Vectra AI's Regional Director for Asia, commented on the importance of obtaining a comprehensive view of infrastructure threats, stating, "Ultimately, for security decision makers today, it's about focusing on what's urgent, by having the best view possible of the entire infrastructure and subsequent threats, assessed by severity and impact."

Vectra's Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service has provided additional support to Globe Telecom, offering continuous alert management, threat hunting, and expert analysis. This service has enabled Globe Telecom's team to focus on pressing alerts that require immediate attention. Bonifacio highlighted the significance of MDR, saying, "The MDR aspect was a key differentiator for us. Vectra's MDR team and their threat-hunting expertise have been invaluable in helping us secure our environment."

According to a recent Vectra AI report, 73% of security practitioners in the Asia-Pacific region believe their organisations could have been compromised without their knowledge due to alert overload. Furthermore, there exists a gap between SOC practitioners and security vendors, with 45% expressing dissatisfaction with their current tools.

Bonifacio praised the enduring relationship with Vectra AI, mentioning, "One thing that truly stands out about Vectra AI is the strong relationship we've built. They've always been a supportive partner, even during challenging times, and we really appreciate that."

Lam concluded by expressing Vectra AI's commitment, saying, "Vectra AI is proud to provide real-time visibility and MDR services to Globe Telecom, helping to eliminate threats and maintain reliable services for their 80 million customers."
